Austin Backstage Live will be a park located in South, Southeast Austin on I-35 north of Slaughter Lane. Encompassing 250 acres of undeveloped land surrounded by retail centers and housing developments. Austin Backstage Live will be a project where the developer decided to capitalize on the beauty and functionality of the natural environment instead of destroying the surroundings and trying to remake them into his vision. It is the goal of owner and developer Mitchell Kalogridis to make Austin Backstage Live a prime Austin destination for family fun and entertainment. His vision is that Austin Backstage Live will be a park where everyone can come and enjoy their stay. Whether it is for a day or a week, visitors will find a variety of activities, entertainment and adventure to capture their attention. Austin Backstage Live will be a park where every modern convenience will be available, lodging, dining, entertainment, shopping and fun -in -the sun. It will also be a place that was built to co-exist with the natural surroundings. Picnic areas, trails for hiking and biking, campgrounds and other outdoor facilities will be available. Austin Backstage Live will be a destination to entice today’s “eco-savvy and eco-conscious” consumer who knows the difference between being environmentally responsible and “green washing” to return time and time again to discover the new adventures that will be available at the park. Beginning with design and development the project will emphasize the use of environmentally responsible practices during all phases of construction and operation whenever feasible. These practices will include site clearing, construction sites, green building at various venues, conservation, preservation and restoration of plant and animal wild life. At facilities in the park visitors will be able to enjoy a chance to interact, learn, teach and observe the varied environmental practices utilized at each different venue throughout the park. Recycling and waste management will be handled primarily by Texas Disposal Systems Green Services Division. It will be interesting to follow along and see how each phase is developed, a chance to see how and what green concepts are implemented into each venue.
